Labourers can apply for their special labour ID card via the official websites of the labour department of different states all over the country.
The government of India is implementing several schemes to provide facilities for the country’s labour class. After successfully launching the scheme to create labour cards, it has now announced a plan to issue special identification certificates for labour. However, this scheme will be entirely separate from the labour card initiative, with its own distinctive features.

The government initially implemented a scheme to create labour cards to establish special identification for those working in the country and gather accurate data about them. Now, it is preparing to collect and provide facilities for labourers engaged in the construction sector. For this purpose, a specific identification certificate for labour will be issued to these workers. The information on this identification certificate will be linked to the e-shram database, ensuring that the government has accurate data on labourers in the construction field.

How to Apply for a Labour Card?
This initiative is specially designed to benefit workers involved in building construction or other construction activities within the country. The government states that the identification certificates for construction workers will be created by linking them to their Aadhaar details. This will enable the government to have accurate data on workers in the construction field. To apply for a labour card, follow a general process via the official websites of the labour departments of different states across the country:
- Visit The State Labour Department’s Official Website: First, start by visiting the official website of the Labour Department in your state.
- Locate “New Labour Card Registration”: Click on “New Labour Card Registration” on the home page.
- Fill in the Details on the New Page-
- Begin by selecting your district and providing other relevant details asked for.
- Provide your personal information and other required details, including your Aadhaar card number.
- Provide your mobile phone number and email address.
- One-time password (OTP) authentication of mobile number.Submit the Application: Press the “submit” button.
