India weather update: IMD issues rainfall alert over several parts including Nicobar islands, HP and Uttarakhand – Check complete forecast

It also forecasted that the wet spell-like condition would continue in the central part of the country during the next two days. 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall alert over Nicobar islands from Tuesday onwards. The strong wind reaching 20-25 kmph gusting to 35 kmph is likely to prevail over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands, North Andaman Sea and Malacca Strait.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall at some places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm and lightning are very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. It also forecasted that the wet spell-like condition would continue in the central part of the country during the next two days.

The minimum temperatures are likely to fall gradually by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the Northwest and central part of the country during the next 3 days. The moderate fog at isolated pockets is also likely in morning hours over both the regions.

A look at weather conditions across few states:- 

  • Delhi: The national capital will experience partly cloudy sky on Tuesday with shallow to moderate fog in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 25 and 12 degrees Celsius respectively. On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures settled at 24.7 and 13.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
  • West Bengal and Sikkim: Kolkata will experience partly cloudy sky today with maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 28 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively. The rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places over Sikkim and Darjeeling, Kalimpong districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal. While, dry weather is most likely to prevail over the rest districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
  • Tamil Nadu: The light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area. Chennai will remain partly cloudy. The light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 31 to 32 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature is likely to be around 25 degrees Celsius.
