Mohammad Shami on Saturday rescued a man whose car crashed near Nainital. The star Indian pacer, who recently featured in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, was on his way to the hill station when he saw a car falling down from the hill. Setting a huge example of humanity, Shami stopped by and checked upon the victim of the car accident. Luckily, the latter was safe.
Shami took to his Instagram account on Saturday night and posted a video of the incident in which he could be seen helping the person who survived the car crash near Nainital.
“He’s so lucky god gave him 2nd life, His car fall down from the hill road near Nanital just in front of my. We took him out very safely,” the caption of the video read.
Shami recently had a great run in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He ended the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps to his credit. Notably, he was benched for the first four games. However, he began his campaign in the showpiece event with a five-wicket haul against New Zealand in Dharamsala.
The right-arm quick had saved his best for the semi-final against the Black Caps. After Virat Kohli’s record-breaking 50th ODI ton and a second consecutive hundred by Shreyas Iyer, Shami wreaked havoc with a 7-wicket haul to register the best-ever bowling figures for India in the 50-over format.
In the final against Australia, he did surpass spinner Adam Zampa to finish as the highest wicket-taker of the World Cup but the Aussies thumped India by 6 wickets to win a record 6th title.
Shami a car accident survivor himself
Back in 2018, Shami himself survived a car accident while travelling from Dehradun to New Delhi. He suffered multiple injuries. According to media reports, he had sustained minor head injuries and got stitches on his head. It was the time when he was in the news after his wife Hasin Jahan lodged a complaint of domestic violence and infidelity against him. Shami was booked under various non-bailable, including attempt to murder, and bailable sections.
