Petrol, and Diesel Prices on November 14: There is a slight increase in the prices of crude oil in the international market. Around 6 am on Tuesday, WTI crude was being sold at $ 78.48 per barrel. At the same time, Brent crude has reached $ 82.52 per barrel. Oil marketing companies in the country have released the latest rates of petrol and diesel. In India, fuel prices are revised every morning at 6 am. Before June 2017, price revision was done every 15 days.

In Maharashtra, petrol has become costlier by 79 paise and diesel by 76 paise. In Bihar, the price of petrol is increasing by 52 paise and the price of diesel is increasing by 48 paise. Apart from this, the price of petrol and diesel is also increasing in Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab and Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, in Gujarat petrol has become cheaper by 38 paise and diesel by 41 paise. There is a decline in the prices of petrol and diesel in Haryana also.
Talking about crude oil, its prices are falling again in the last 24 hours in the global market. The price of Brent crude has fallen to $ 80.01 per barrel. The rate of WTI is also running at $75.50 per barrel.
At present, petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 96.72 a litre while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 a litre. Whereas in Mumbai, petrol is available at Rs 106.31 and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre. While petrol in Kolkata is Rs 106.03 and diesel is Rs 92.76 per litre. On the other hand, petrol is being sold at Rs 102.63 and diesel at Rs 94.24 per litre in Chennai.

In India, oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum determine petrol and diesel prices. This is done on a daily basis, and rates are determined in accordance with the price of crude oil throughout the world.
Why do fuel prices vary across states?
The rates for each day, whether new or unchanged, are announced at 6 am on the day. These, however, vary from state to state; this is due to criteria such as Value Added Tax (VAT), freight charges, local taxes, etc.
