Dhanteras 2023: Dhanteras is the first day of Diwali. It is celebrated as Lakshmi Puja, and devotees bring home new utensils, precious metals, jewellery, and other items. Many people also worship Lord Dhanvantari, who is believed to be the God of Ayurveda.

Dhanteras 2023 Date And Time

This year, we will be celebrating Dhanteras on November 10. The auspicious time to celebrate the festival will begin at 12.34 pm, and it will continue till 1.56 pm the next day, November 11.

The expert said that people worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber on this day to seek their blessings and attract wealth and prosperity into their homes. It is believed that you worship Goddess Lakshmi in the Pradosh Kal, which will begin on November 10 at 5.29 pm and continue till 8.07 pm.

Dhanteras 2023 Shubh Muhurat

If you are performing veneration on Dhanteras 2023, you should be aware of the shubh muhurat for it. When you perform puja in this time frame, it is believed to benefit you the most.

The shubh muhurat for Dhanteras puja will begin on November 10 at 5.46 pm. The time will remain lucky till 7.43 pm. The astrologer said that during this time, one can install the new idols of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kuber, and Lord Ganesha. You can chant mantras and attract blessings for Gods and Goddesses along with good luck, prosperity, and wealth into your home.

Dhanteras Significance

Hindus consider Dhanteras an auspicious day. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi appeared from the ocean of milk during its churning (Samudra Manthan) centuries ago. During this time, when Devas and Asuras were busy in Samudra Manthan to find the elixir of life or potion for immortality, Lord Dhanvantari emerged from it carrying a jar with that liquid. He is also believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

In astrology, there is a right way to perform any veneration, even the smallest one. The astrologer sheds light on the correct way or ritual to perform Dhanteraj puja this year. 

The rituals include,

  • Waking up early in the morning and showering. It will cleanse your body and get you ready to perform the veneration without any impurity.
  • When you start the puja, you must sit on a mat and meditate. You should seek blessings from Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari. You should chant mantras.
  • Post performing the puja, you can bring home new clothes, money, metals, utensils, jewellery, and other things that are associated with prosperity.
  • In the evening, you should bathe before the Pradosh Kal and wear new clothes. You should install the new idols of Gods and Goddesses, especially Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
  • While establishing new idols, you should pour pure Gangajal (water from the Ganga River), add new clothes to the idols, put tilak on their heads, and offer them sweets, fresh flowers, diya, fruits, and incense sticks. 
  • You finish the puja with chants and mantras. It will instantly fill your home with positivity.
