According to a report from Android Authority, users are resorting to better ad-restricting paid software and non-Google browsers. This is because they are not affected by the recent crackdown yet and continue to serve an ad-free experience on YouTube.
Media outlet Wired has reported that lakhs of viewers who use ad blockers cut ties with the software and uninstalled it last month. A staff from Ghostery, a popular ad blocker on Chrome’s web store, shared that the ratio of installs and uninstalls remained three to five times in October. Some users are also exploring the Newpipe website, similar to YouTube, which can run videos without ads. According to Android Authority, the uBlock Origin extension continues to block ads on Firefox internet browser. For users looking for a permanent solution, you can subscribe to YouTube Premium, which starts from Rs 129 in India.
