Why Does Aadhaar Have A Mobile Number?
Many Aadhaar authentication processes require you to enter an OTP that is sent to your registered mobile number. This helps to ensure that only you have access to your Aadhaar account.
Your mobile number on Aadhaar card makes it easier to access a variety of government, banking and social services.
The mobile number can be used to verify your identity when you register for Aadhaar or when you update your Aadhaar details. This helps to prevent fraudulent registrations and updates.
Using An International Mobile Number On Aadhaar
Currently, UIDAI does not support international/ non-Indian mobile numbers. You cannot use an international mobile number on your Aadhaar card.
The Unique Identification Authority of India only supports Indian mobile numbers for Aadhaar registration and updates.
Non-Resident Indians (whether minor or adult) with a valid Indian passport can apply for Aadhaar from any Aadhaar Kendra.
If you are an NRI and you need to register for an Aadhaar card, you can do so by visiting any Aadhaar Kendra in India and submitting the required documents, including a valid Indian passport.
You can also update your mobile number on your Aadhaar card by visiting an Aadhaar Kendra and providing proof of identity and address.
