The craze for SUVs in India is growing every day. Their popularity can be gauged from the fact that one out of every two cars sold is now an SUV. The original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kia India and Toyota Kirloskar Motor have a strong SUV line-up at present. Some of these carmakers are gearing up to launch new models next year. We take a look at five upcoming SUVs in India in 2024.

2024 Hyundai Creta facelift
Hyundai Motor India will launch the Creta facelift in the country in the first quarter (January-March) of 2024. The Hyundai Creta is the largest-selling mid-size SUV in India. It takes on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Kia Seltos, among others.
The 2024 Creta facelift will come with several exterior and interior updates. However, the most significant update will be the addition of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). It will also get the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which is available with the Seltos.

Kia Sonet facelift
The Sonet facelift will be launched in India in the first half of 2024. Once among the largest-selling sub-4 metre compact SUVs in India, the Sonet has taken a hit in the past few months.
The updated Sonet is already being tested in India. There is no doubt that Sonet is among the most feature-loaded products in its segment. In its fresh avatar, we are expecting changes to the outside as well as inside the cabin.
Mahindra Thar 5-door
The 5-door Thar is among the most eagerly awaited vehicles in India. Mahindra has already announced that it will be launched in 2024.
The Mahindra Thar 5-door has been spied testing on numerous occasions. The new model will get an electric sunroof, among several fresh features.

2024 Mahindra XUV300 facelift
The 5-door Thar is not the only model Mahindra is looking to introduce in 2024. It will also launch the XUV300 facelift.
The XUV300 has received a 5-star safety rating at Global NCAP tests. However, its cabin looks a bit dated and does not offer as many features as that of the rivals. Mahindra will definitely look to address this issue in the 2024 XUV300 facelift.
Tata Curvv
The Curvv will be Tata Motors’ answer to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos. It will be launched in India in 2024.
Tata already has a robust SUV portfolio, which includes the Punch, Nexon, Harrier and Safari. With the Curvv, the homegrown auto major will have model each from the micro-SUV category to the seven-seat category.
