But getting a copy of a duplicate card is easier than that.
It does not take much time nor do you need to go anywhere.
You can apply for a duplicate voter ID card sitting at home because the Election Commission of India has now started the process of online application for duplicate voter ID card in all the states and union territories.

Method of duplicate Voter ID card application
To make a duplicate voter ID, first of all you have to go to the website of the Chief Electoral Officer of your respective state and download a copy of Form EPIC-002.
This form is used for issuing the photo voter ID card.
Be careful while filling this form.
Attach all the necessary documents with the form.
In the form, you will also have to give the reason for making a duplicate ID card.
If your Voter ID card is lost or stolen, you will also have to attach a copy of the FIR.
Apart from this, a passport size photo, address and identity proof should also be included in the documents.
After this, submit this form to your local election officer.
You will be given a reference number.
With the help of this number, you can track the status of your application by visiting the website of the State Election Office i.e. you can find out whether your Voter ID card has been made or not.
Once you submit your form, it is first verified, after which, the process of the duplicate card starts.
You will be informed after the verification. After this, you can go to the local election officer and get it.
You can also apply offline
If you do not want to apply online, you can also apply offline for this.
For this, you have to go to the election officer’s office with the necessary documents and apply.
Here, to make a duplicate Voter ID card, the same form will have to be taken.
In the form, name, address and old voter ID card number have to be filled.
Submit photocopies of whatever documents will be asked from you.
After the verification of your documents, you will be issued a duplicate Voter ID card.
After a few days, you can collect your Voter ID card from the election officer’s office.
