In a groundbreaking technological leap, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, the world’s largest private mobile data network, has unveiled India’s inaugural satellite-based giga fiber service, poised to provide high-speed broadband connectivity to previously underserved regions within the country.

The demonstration of this innovative service, known as JioSpaceFiber, took place at the India Mobile Congress, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi. Following the inauguration, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd showcased how JioSpaceFiber would work to the Prime Minister.
JioSpaceFiber is set to launch its services across the length and breadth of India, promising affordability for consumers from all walks of life, and represents a significant milestone in the nation’s quest for digital inclusivity.
The Jio conglomerate, currently delivering high-speed broadband via both fixed-line and wireless means to over 450 million Indian users, is committed to accelerating the digital transformation of every household in India.

With the introduction of JioSpaceFiber, it joins its premier broadband services, JioFiber and JioAirFiber, ensuring that consumers and businesses alike gain unprecedented access to reliable, low-latency, high-speed internet, and entertainment services, irrespective of their geographical location.
This satellite-based network will also bolster mobile backhaul capacity, thereby further enhancing the reach and scale of Jio’s True5G network in the most remote corners of the nation.
A key element in the realisation of this ambitious project is Jio’s partnership with SES, which provides access to the cutting-edge medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology. SES boasts the only MEO constellation with the capability to deliver truly unique gigabit, fiber-like services from space.
By combining SES’s O3b and the new O3b mPOWER satellites, Jio has positioned itself as the sole entity to offer game-changing technology, ensuring scalable and affordable broadband access throughout India, complete with a level of guaranteed reliability and service flexibility that is unparalleled in the industry.
Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, expressed his enthusiasm for this pioneering endeavour, stating, “Jio has enabled millions of homes and businesses in India to experience broadband internet for the first time.
