Projections indicate a 32% job growth over the next decade, with median income estimates soaring to $112,000 annually and on an upward trajectory. This presents a significant opening for aspiring IT students.
What is the best approach to help students unlock these abundant job opportunities?
To stand out in this competitive field and flourish in their careers, students should aim for a bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology or a related field. While not always mandatory for entry-level positions, it is highly preferred. However, a degree alone won’t suffice.
In addition, students should consider obtaining the CompTIA Security+ certification. Employers frequently demand this vital credential alongside a degree. It’s the fundamental certification in security, and students can prepare for it during their academic years. Data breaches, ransomware attacks, and social engineering threats are all on the rise. Consequently, the demand for security positions will persist for a considerable time. In fact, security is becoming an increasingly integral aspect of many job roles. Having the Security+ certification can provide students in other tech fields with a competitive edge.
