Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first corridor of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in Uttar Pradesh’s Sahibabad today.

The priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor will be launched from the Sahibabad RAPIDX station. The prime minister will flag off a RAPIDX train connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, marking the launch of RRTS in India, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said. And this train will be known as “Namo Bharat”.
PM Modi will also address a public rally to mark the occasion and will later inaugurate two stretched of the east-west corridor of the Bengaluru Metro.

The Uttar Pradesh administration has announced holiday for all the schools in Ghaziabad on Friday, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The authorities directed the schools to conduct online classes instead.
Traffic Advisory Issued Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit
The Ghaziabad Traffic Police released a traffic advisory ahead of the launch of RRTS by PM Modi. The restrictions will be in place from 7 am on Friday till the end of the programme.

- A complete ban on movement of all types of vehicles from Hindon Air Force Golchakkar via Mohan Nagar towards Sahibabad RapidX station/public meeting.
- Movement of all types of vehicles from Police Station Link Road Red Light towards Sahibabad RapidX Station and public meeting will be completely banned.
- Movement of heavy/medium commercial vehicles will be completely banned from Loni to Bhopura via Hindon round about via Nagdwar towards Rajnagar extension and from ALT intersection. All types of buses from Rajnagar Extension to Rotary Round about via Nagdwar from Bhopura to Loni.

Congress Targets PM Modi Over Naming of RRTS Trains as ‘Namo Bharat’
The Congress on Thursday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over naming the RRTS trains as ‘Namo Bharat’, saying there is “simply no limit to his self-obsession”. Official sources said that the trains of the RRTS — to be inaugurated by PM Modi — will be known as ‘Namo Bharat’.
Reacting to it, Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X, “After Namo stadium now Namo trains. There is simply no limit to his self-obsession.” A cricket stadium in Ahmedabad is named after Prime Minister Modi, another Congress leader, Pawan Khera said, “Why even put Bharat? Just change the name of the country to Namo and be done with it.”
PM Modi to Address Public Rally After Inauguration
Prime Minister Narendra, after the inauguration of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor will also address a public rally to mark the occasion. Following this, PM Modi will also inaugurate two stretches of the east-west corridor of the Bengaluru Metro.

Murals at RAPIDX Stations Depict Changes That RRTS Will Bring
Vibrant Murals have been painted along with meaningful captions at a newly built station of India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail service — RAPIDX — that aims at redefining long-distance travel in the Delhi-Meerut region.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) was tasked with supervising the construction of of the RRTS between Delhi and Meerut.
“The primary section has a total of five stations, with murals currently being painted at Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, and Duhai RAPIDX stations. Work on murals at other completed stations are also being done,” a senior official told PTI.
Officials said that these hand-paintings will depict the change that RRTS will bring in people’s lives, adding theses= serve as a powerful means of self-expression, cultural representation and community engagement.

RRTS Named as ‘Namo Bharat’
The RRTS trains, that will be inaugurated by PM Modi, will be known as ‘Namo Bharat, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Thursday.
In April, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is implementing India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail service project, had named RRTS trains as ‘RAPIDX’. In a post on X in Hindi, the Union housing and urban affairs minister announced that RRTS trains will be known as ‘Namo Bharat’.
AI-based Baggage Scanning System to Alert Security Staff
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) officials said that baggage scanning system at stations of the priority section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is equipped with artificial intelligence-powered technology that will alert and help security staff identify restricted or prohibited items.
“The UP government has entrusted the responsibility of security of all the stations in the state to the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) and the deployment of security force at the stations of the priority section has already been done,” a senior official said.
Besides, a quick reaction team, bomb detection and disposal squad, and a dog squad team will also be deployed by the UP Police for investigation and prevention of crimes in stations.
Facilities in the Hi-tech RRTS Trains Include Lounge for Premium Class
India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail service — RAPIDX — whose trains are equipped with hi-tech features and a number of passenger amenities, is all set to be inaugurated by PM Modi on Friday.
Every RAPIDX train will have six coaches, including a premium coach. One coach in every train is reserved for women and it is the coach next to the premium coach. Seats in coaches are serially numbered.
Premium coaches have a seat with a different colour code, a provision for installing a vending machine in future, besides a host of additional commuter-centric features like reclining seats, coat hooks, magazine holders and footrests.

For enhanced safety, every RRTS station is equipped with platform screen doors (PSDs). These PSDs are integrated with RRTS train doors and the signaling system.
A push-button facility on the doors of the trains will allow passengers to board and get off the train when it halts at a station, officials said. This step has been taken as a measure to ‘save energy’, officials said.
