Bajaj plans to launch 2 lakh units of the upcoming CNG bike annually when launched.
While Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a fuel in the passenger vehicle segment is booming in India, there has been no major development of this technology in the two-wheeler industry, until now. It appears Bajaj Auto will be the first to hit the hammer on the nail.

Bajaj CNG bike in the works
According to a recent media report, Bajaj is working on a 110cc bike which will run on CNG. The report further states that the bike has been internally codenamed Bruzer E101 and it is almost in its final stages of development. Like most CNG vehicles, the upcoming two-wheeler will be able to switch between CNG and conventional petrol fuel.
The initial production plan was to produce about 1-1.2 lakh vehicles of CNG bikes per year, this has been revised upwards to about 2 lakh units and above. Apparently, the first few prototypes of the 110cc CNG bike have already been built. Upon launch, the CNG bike will initially be manufactured at the company’s Aurangabad plant but operations will eventually move out to Bajaj’s Pant Nagar facility too.

Expected to go on sale in the next 6-12 months, we believe the Bruzer E101 CNG bike will carry the ‘Platina’ nametag upon its launch. This will give Bajaj the much needed reach among mass market buyers, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 centres and beyond. With CNG infrastructure improving across the country, it will help align with the government’s vision of boosting alternate fuels.
As of now, there are no substantial details regarding the upcoming CNG bike but expect folks from Chakan to send some crucial information our way in the coming months.
