‘Terrific Meeting’: Google CEO Sundar Pichai Thanks PM Modi | What They Discussed

New Delhi: Google CEO Sundar Pichai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a “terrific meeting” to discuss Google’s ongoing commitment to India on Tuesday. PM Modi and Pichai held a virtual meeting on Monday where they discussed Google’s plan to take part in the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India.

In a post on X, formerly called Twitter, Sundar Pichai wrote, “Thank you PM @narendramodi for the terrific meeting today to discuss Google’s ongoing commitment to India, and how we are expanding our operations, leveraging AI, and increasing our partnerships.”

Modi also appreciated the partnership between Google and HP to manufacture Chromebooks in India. During the meeting, he acknowledged Google’s 100 languages initiative and encouraged efforts to make AI tools available in several Indian languages. Prime Minister appreciated Google’s plans to open its global fintech operations centre in Gandhinagar’s Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT).

The Google CEO discussed the plans of the tech giant to improve financial inclusion in India by developing the strength and reach of GPay and UPI services. Pichai also emphasised Google’s commitment to contribute to the development of India, as per a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The tech giant has been invited by the Prime Minister to the upcoming Global Partnership on AI Summit, which will be hosted by India in December 2023 in New Delhi.
