The meteorological department said that the wet spell is expected to persist in Northwest India until October 17. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is highly likely to persist in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the next two days.

According to the latest weather forecast by IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected at numerous locations with isolated thunderstorms and lightning in the forecast for across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad today.
Light rain likely in Delhi today
The IMD predicts that the national capital will experience a partly cloudy sky with a chance of very light rain or thundershowers on Monday. The expected range for maximum and minimum temperatures is around 32 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Heavy rain lashes Kerala, orange alert issued in 4 districts
Following heavy rainfall that led to waterlogging and flooding in various regions of Kerala, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has taken action by issuing an orange alert for four districts in the state, namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha for the current day. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for the remaining districts, with the exception of Kannur and Kasaragod.
Region-wise rainfall warning
In Northwest India, we can expect widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning, particularly in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab on October 16. There’s also a chance of similar conditions in a few places across Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during the same period, with isolated rainfall continuing on October 17 in these areas. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Punjab on October 16, as well as over Himachal Pradesh.
In East India, the outlook calls for light to moderate rainfall in most areas, accompanied by isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. These conditions are highly likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from October 15-19. Similar weather patterns are anticipated to prevail over isolated areas in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Puducherry, and Karaikal on October 16.
Moving to South India, widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected, with isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds (30-40 kmph), and lightning highly likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe from October 15-17. These weather conditions are also forecasted for the Lakshadweep area on October 16, and over South Interior Karnataka on October 16. Furthermore, there’s a possibility of isolated very heavy rainfall in Kerala today.
