Rhea Chakraborty’s life took a drastic turn after Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his Mumbai apartment in June 2020.
Years after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Rhea Chakraborty has now said that she was aware of the late actor’s mental health issues. Rhea was speaking at the recent India Today Conclave when she was asked if she knows the truth about Sushant’s alleged suicide. The actress explained that people do not believe that one could be depressed bespite having ‘fame and success’.

“The truth is that mental health is not understood in this country at all. We are taking strides and the youth is now talking about it and India is moving forward in understanding mental health. But when someone who is famous has a mental health condition, people don’t understand it. They are like he has fame, he has success, why is he depressed?” she said.
Rhea argued that even though the society is changing slowly, it is “very difficult for people to consume or digest the fact that someone who is rich and famous and successful could be mentally affected, could be depressed.”

The 31-year-old actress then admitted that she was aware of Sushant Singh Rajput’s mental health issues but also clarified that she does not know what prompted him to take his life. “I could never know the truth of what took him to do what he did because I don’t live in his mind, contrary to popular belief. But I do know the truth about him being mentally ill, I do know the truth about what he was going through,” she said.
