India weather update: IMD issues orange alert for Andaman and Nicobar Island, Konkan region – Check complete forecast

A fresh spell of heavy rainfall is also expected over East India from today onwards.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange alert for Andaman and Nicobar Island and Konkan regions till September 30th. It also predicted that a low pressure area is likely to form over East Central and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal in next 24 hours. A fresh spell of heavy rainfall is also expected over East India from today onwards.

Top 5 rainfall stations across India:-

In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall has been observed at Port Blair (15 cm) followed closely by Lanja (13 cm), Kattapakkam (12 cm), Peddapuram (11 cm), and Ambegaon (9 cm).

Delhi

The Met department has predicted partly cloudy skies with Mist in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 35 and 22 degree celsius respectively. On Thursday, the national capital witnessed a maximum temperature of 35.2 degree Celsius, a notch above normal.

West Bengal

Kolkata is likely to experience generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershower. The maximum and minimum temperature are most likely to be around 32 degrees and 28 degrees Celsius respectively. The Regional Met office has predicted rainfall over Sub Himalayan districts of the state.

Odisha

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) at one or two places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on Friday. It also forecast thunderstorms with lightning to occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh and Ganjam.

Maharashtra

The weather office has predicted widespread rainfall over north Konkan, south Konkan and Goa. While, scattered rainfall is likely to take place in north Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. The fairly widespread rainfall is expected to take place over south Madhya Maharashtra, east and west Vidarbha region.
