NEW DELHI: BJP has planned a host of programmes to reach out to different sections of society through welfare activities across the country as it launches a fortnight-long ‘Sewa Pakhwara’ to mark PM Modi’s 73rd birthday on Sunday. The celebrations will continue till October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, as per the practice that BJP has been following for several years. The PM himself will be part of launching several development initiatives on his birthday.
With Vishwakarma Jayanti falling on Sunday, Modi will launch his government’s ambitious scheme, PM Vishwakarma, aimed at helping artisans and craftsmen. As practitioners of these traditional occupations come largely from OBCs, the plan with an outlay of Rs 13,000 crore is being seen as BJP’s outreach to the politically important segment ahead of the polls.

Noting that it is Modi’s vision of having a world- class infrastructure for hosting meetings, conferences and exhibitions in the country, officials said the operationalisation of YashoBhoomi will be a big boost to this. To celebrate the occasion, Gujarat BJP will open bank accounts for 30,000 schoolgirls. The party will also launch a large-scale campaign to highlight major achievements of the Modi government in the past nine-and-half years.
