The video shows a man using a gas lighter to curl a woman’s hair. He heats up the lighter first and wraps the woman’s tresses around it for the perfect curls.
Women often opt for different hairstyles before attending a party, ceremony, or an important event. Two of the most common and comparatively easy hairstyles are straightening and curling. Both these hairdos can also be done quite seamlessly at home, with the help of a hair straightener and curler. But what if you don’t have a hairstyling device and are not willing to splurge a huge amount of money at a parlour? Well, in that case, you must take some tips from desi Indian households, who are well-proclaimed for their “jugaads”. Recently a video was dropped on the internet that shows a woman curling her hair in the most unconventional and desi way.

The visual footage was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) on September 15 by a user named Aditi. “Ye technique India se bahar nahi jani chahiye (This technique should not spread outside India)” read the post. The video opens with a man subtly burning a gas lighter on a stove. After the lighter is moderately heated up, he switches off the stove and that’s when his motive is revealed. Soon a woman appears in the video and the man with the help of the heated gas lighter wraps a few of her tresses on the lighter. It takes no effort to understand that the gas lighter here is the substitute for a hair curler.

Surprisingly, after the man unwraps the woman’s hair locks from the gas lighter her tresses exhibit the perfect curls, giving the impression that the hairstyle was executed by a curler. Presumably proud that his little experiment worked, the man holds the woman’s hair strand in his hand and flaunts it to the camera, sporting a winning smile.
Social media users were left amused by the hair curling technique opted by the man and reacted to the video in the comment section. One of them sarcastically commented, “Amazing. The government is really happy to give gas subsidies. People are developing skills.” “No one can separate desis from jugaad. I’m gonna save this video for a rainy day,” noted another. “Modern problems require modern solutions,” wrote a third individual.
So far, the video has received over 4,76,000 views on the microblogging platform. However, people watching the video are strictly advised not to follow such hacks at home without supervision as it can lead to unfavourable outcomes.
This is not the first time that we have come across Indians and their desi jugaads. Earlier, another similar video went viral on the internet which showed a man using the steam from a pressure cooker to sterilise the vegetables.
