New Delhi: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, BRS leader and the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the excise policy case in Delhi, PTI reported. She was previously questioned at the ED headquarters in March this year and had to submit her phones to the agency.
Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22 was scrapped following allegations that it favoured dealers who paid bribes for it. A CBI probe was recommended following which the ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
During the investigation, an accountant allegedly linked to Kavitha was questioned. He told the authorities that “there was political understanding between K Kavitha and the chief minister (Arvind Kejriwal) and deputy chief minister (Manish Sisodia). In that process, K Kavitha also met Vijay Nair on March 19-20, 2021”.

Who is Kalvakuntla Kavitha?
Born in 1978, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the daughter of Chandrashekhar Rao and Shobha, is a member of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi party who currently serves as an MLC from Nizamabad. She was previously a Member of Parliament from Nizamabad Lok Sabha Constituency from 2014 to 2019. She lost the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Nizamabad to BJP candidate Arvind Dharmapuri.

She got a B.Tech degree from VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology. Then she moved to the United States to earn a Master of Sciences degree from University of Southern Mississippi. She then returned to India in 2004 and joined politics.
The 45-year-old is married to businessman Devanapalli Anil Kumar. The couple has two sons – Aaditya and Aarya.
