Rajnish Kumar, a seasoned banking expert, has been appointed as the new Chairman of MasterCard India. He previously served as the Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), one of India’s largest banks.

Kumar’s journey in the financial world began in 1980 when he joined SBI as a Probationary Officer. Born on January 14, 1958, in Mumbai, he became Chairman of SBI on October 7, 2017, where he served for three years.

In 2017, the Bank Board Bureau (BBB) interviewed several managing directors of SBI and recommended names to the Central Government. Rajnish Kumar emerged as a top candidate for the role.
