We are barely hours away from Apple’s biggest event of this year, the Wonderlust, and the excitement around the same is palpable. Apple will be launching the much-anticipated iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Plus.
Promising massive upgrades over the iPhone 14 along with some exciting features, the iPhone 15 lineup looks like it will pack quite a punch. And with the launch approaching soon, many rumours and speculations about the upcoming iPhones are doing rounds on the internet.
Now, a couple of days back, it was reported that the iPhone 15 will be manufactured in India. And it has led some people to believe that it might get a price cut. But in reality, will the manufacturing of the iPhone in India have an effect on its final price? Read on as we delve deeper into the question.
Will iPhone 15 be cheaper in India?
First thing’s first, the iPhone 15 won’t be the first iPhone to be manufactured in India. Earlier versions of the iPhone, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14 were also ‘made in India’. However, this never affected their price.
To recall, the 128 GB variant of the iPhone 13 launched in India for Rs 79,900. Similarly, the base variant of the iPhone 14 in India also launched at a price of Rs 79,900. The US price of both phones, at the time of launch, was USD 799.

This means that the India price of both the previous iPhones was simply the US price multiplied by 100.
It is likely that Apple will follow the same pattern this year as well and the price of the iPhone 15 will be equal to the US price, multiplied by 100. Hence, manufacturing of the phone in India will not really have an effect on the final price.
In other words, since we have never seen manufacturing in India affect the final price of the iPhone in any way, it is quite unlikely that something of the sort will be happening this time around.
iPhone 15 to arrive in India sooner this year?
Even though the iPhone 15 won’t get cheaper in India because it is being manufactured here, it might be available sooner than anticipated. Generally, while people in the US, Europe, UK and other markets get access to the latest iPhones the moment they launch globally, Indians have to wait for a month or so to get their hands on the phones. But that might not be the case this time.
A report by Economic Times earlier this month had revealed that Apple is planning to unveil the iPhone 15 in India sooner this year as the tech giant is aiming to narrow the gap with the global launch ‘to few days, if not a simultaneous reveal, in India’.

Additionally, a Bloomberg report had earlier said that the production of iPhone 15 had already begun in Tamil Nadu, India. A Foxconn Technology Group’s plant in Sriperumbudur was reported to be all geared up to manufacture the new series of iPhones. Sources had told the publication that the company is trying to increase the volume of iPhones coming from India.
