WhatsApp has launched several features in the last few days and the company has now announced yet another feature that can prove to be quite beneficial for people. As reported by IANS, WhatsApp will soon allow its users to edit captions of photos, videos, GIFs and documents. The new feature has already been rolled out to some users and the remaining users might get access to it in the coming days. The feature will be available for both Android and iOS users.

WhatsApp new feature allows you to edit captions
In May this year, WhatsApp had rolled out the feature to edit text messages in a chat. The messages can be edited up to 15 minutes after they have been sent by a user.
“From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats. All you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after,” WhatsApp said in a blog at the time of rolling out the feature.

However, up until now, there was no option to edit captions on media messages such as pictures, videos, and GIFs. With this latest update, WhatsApp has solved this problem, and you will be able to edit media messages in the same way as text messages – by holding onto the sent media message with a caption and choosing the edit option. Similar to text messages, media messages can also be edited for up to 15 minutes from the time of sending.

WhatsApp allows sending HD photos
Recently, WhatsApp had also announced that it will allow users to send HD photos through the app, a move that was much-awaited. Before this, images sent through WhatsApp were automatically compressed, which often resulted in a poor image quality. However, with this feature, people will be able to send great quality pictures to their contacts without worrying about it getting compressed.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also talked about the update in a Facebook post. He wrote, “Sharing photos on WhatsApp just got an upgrade — now you can send in HD.” The post also included a video that demonstrated how to send photos in HD or standard quality. The process of sending photos remains the same. However, there’s an “HD” option at the top, next to the pen and crop tools. From here, users can select between standard or HD quality photo.
