Woman loses job after 9 years of service

Talking about the layoffs, the woman wrote on LinkedIn, “After 9 years, I’m bid farewell to #Amazon. Being part of the layoffs isn’t easy, but I’m filled with gratitude. I am grateful for my time at Amazon and appreciate all I’ve learned and contributed to. I began as an Executive Administrator and discovered my true passion as a Senior Product Manager. For that, I want to thank my managers and colleagues for all the support and mentorship.”

Maintaining a positive attitude towards her professional journey, the woman added, “I’m optimistic that this turn in my career will lead me to an amazing opportunity! So, I am #opentowork and asking for your help. If you know of any roles in Product Management working on solutions through technology, please connect with me. If you think of any people who could provide me with valuable advice in my next steps, please connect me as well.”

Experienced Amazon employee loses job

Another Amazon employee also shared his story on LinkedIn and wrote that he lost his job around 6 months back. He added that he has over 25 years of experience in the field and even opened a restaurant after losing his job, but that wasn’t very successful.

Sharing his story on LinkedIn, the man began by writing that he has been looking for a job for six months now and has sent around 150 resumes. He also added that even though he secured some interviews and they went well in his opinion, he never really heard back from hiring managers. He then revealed that he purchased a restaurant but that turned into a ‘money pit’ with no returns. He also added that Amazon had turned his career upside down.

Amazon fired 18,000 people from various departments. In January this year, news surfaced that in order to cut costs, Amazon is also selling some of its empty office spaces.
