New Delhi: Russia has announced that it would be issuing “e-visas” to Indian passport holders. Indians who wish to apply for a Russian visa can now submit their applications, starting today – August 1, 2023 – on the official website – e-visa-russia.com.
The e-visa system was introduced last week by Russia and has been formally launched from today onwards. All Indians with a valid passport will be able to submit their applications for an e-visa on the official website. - Visit the official website – e-visa-russia.com
- On the homepage, click on the link for apply for tourist visa
- Select India under passport and fill in the application
- Upload all documents required and submit the fee
- Download the confirmation page for future references.

As per the official notification released, the e-Visa will have a validity of 60 days. Indians will be allowed to stay in Russia for up to 16 days per visit.
Compared to the normal visa process, the e-visa process is expected to be faster. The maximum processing time for an e-Visa is around four days. Russia decided to extend the e-Visa system to India, China and African countries after a decline in tourists was reported due to the Ukraine Russia War.

Official figures suggested that there has been a 40 percent drop in foreign tourists in Russia. With the e-visa process, the processing time will be reduced for visitors, which is expected to lure them to Russia as the process has been simplified for all.
