Tomato prices are currently retailing anywhere between Rs 100-200 per kilogram in different parts of the country. The soaring prices have compelled common people to refrain from buying the much necessary item, resulting in a huge problem for small sellers.

A video showing the plight of a tomato retail seller has gone crazy and is being shared widely on social media platforms. The seller identified as Rameshwar, comes to Azadpur’s wholesale vegetable market in Delhi every day to buy tomatoes and sell them across different lanes of the city.
In the interview, Rameshwar describes how the exorbitant price of tomatoes has left him helpless and made it extremely difficult to earn a living. The seller also says that he does not have enough money to buy other vegetables to resell.
Actor Vijay Varma took note of the situation and offered to help out Rameshwar. Varma has also extended help to small sellers like him as well.
“This is heartbreaking. Is there any way one can help him and those who’ve lost livelihood like him? Pls batao,” he wrote.

The National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) is selling tomatoes at Rs 90 per kilogram. In Delhi, the tomatoes are being sold at retail outlets in Okhla and Nehru Place.
