Bengaluru CEO Flooded With 3,000 CVs In Just 48 Hours

Kartik Mandaville, the founder and CEO of Springworks, said in a recent tweet: “Received over 3K resumes in the last 48 hours just on our website – how bad is the job market?” His tweet has already garnered more than 2 lakh views.

How Twitter Users Reacted To The Post

When a user asked the Bengaluru-based startup’s CEO on Twitter if “this is usual or anything different in the past 48 hours, CEO Mandaville said that the flood of resumes has continued through the month.

“Its been like this for the month. 12,500+ applications so far,” the CEO replied in his tweet.

Another user was curious to know what roles the job postings were for.

One of the replies to the post mentioned that layoffs and AI have worsened the job market scenario.

However, one Twitter user blamed the flooding of CVs on people instead of the job market. He mentioned, “I don’t think so it’s the job market but just people’s behaviour ! Firstly, I agree with you. Now a days any job I see in India has almost the same type of reception – 200, 300 applications in 1-2 hours. Secondly, I feel this is because people are always looking for more.”

A check on the startup Springworks career website showed that all the open positions in sales and marketing, operations, product, and tech roles were “permanent remote”. On its website, as per the ET report, Springworks said that it has an employee strength of about 200 and announced its remote-first future on May 6, 2020, for greater work-life harmony.

Comments Show The True Picture Of The Job Market

Many Twitter users also commented on the job situation in the IT sector.

“Pretty Bad. I remember going into a walk-in interview for an IT company in Delhi. 700 people came for roughly 20 roles !! And that too for 2.5 LPA,” said a user.

Another Twitter user said, “Ouch. Not good. And this is where quality talent loses out too. They get lost in the crowd. A race to the bottom.”

Another reply to the tweet mentioned about unemployment: “Unemployment is at peak, young people are desperate for jobs even if it has nothing to do with what they learnt in college. And this frustration will cause civil unrest or mass protest by youth.”
