Both gold and silver prices recorded a downfall on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday, July 17, 2023.

Gold futures, maturing on August 4, 2023, stood at Rs 59,220 per 10 grams, after recording a marginal dip of Rs 96 or 0.16 percent. The previous close was recorded at Rs 59,316.
Similarly, silver futures, due on September 5, 2023, witnessed a downfall of Rs 273 or 0.36 percent and were retailing at Rs 75,695 per kg on the MCX against the previous close of Rs 75,968.

The price of gold varies for different regions in the country based on certain parameters such as the excise duty, making charges and the state taxes.

Gold prices on Monday edged lower on Monday as the dollar strengthened, while investors largely bet on the U.S. Federal Reserve hitting the brakes soon on interest rate hikes, news agency Reuters reported.

According to the latest metal report, spot gold edged 0.1% lower to $1,952.58 per ounce by 0028 GMT. U.S. gold futures were down 0.4% to $1,957.20.
Spot silver fell 0.2% to $24.89 per ounce, while platinum and palladium fell 0.5% each to $966.88 and $1,265.07, respectively.
