Amazon workers are planning a strike at a UK warehouse, a Reuters report states. The three-day long strike will begin on July 11 and end on July 13 and will be staged over a pay dispute. The report further adds that the planned strike will coincide with Amazon Prime Day Sale event that begins on July 11 in the UK and ends on July 12. However, the strike isn’t expected to affect the customers as the warehouse where it is being planned does not serve customers’ orders directly. Labour union GMB told Reuters about the workers’ plans.

900 Amazon workers planning to strike
Around 900 Amazon workers at UK’s Coventry warehouse will be participating in the reported strike. According to Reuters, the strike will be staged for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening on July 11, July 12 and July 13. Labour Union GMB said that same in a emailed statement to the news agency.
The Amazon workers, through the strike, are demanding to be paid 15 pounds an hour. The company has fixed its minimum starting pay for employees between 11 to 12 pounds per hour, depending on the location.

“GMB members in Coventry have time and time again shown that this fight will only end with 15 pounds ($19.25) an hour and union rights,” GMB Senior Organiser Rachel Fagan told Reuters.
This isn’t the first time that the workers are staging a strike. Last month too, from June 12 to 14, the workers had staged a strike in the Coventry warehouse. The union had then said that the workers had voted in favour of six more months of strikes.

Amazon Prime Day Sale in India
For India, the Amazon Prime Day Sale will begin on July 15 and end on July 16. The promotional banner of the same can already be seen on Amazon India’s website. During the sale, several smartphones are expected to get cheaper. The iPhone 14, for instance, is expected to be available at a massive discount, as per reports.
