SBI Credit Card Users ALERT! Here Is How You Can Online Disable Credit Card Transactions To Curb Frauds

To bolster the security of debit and credit cards, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced several guidelines and features aimed at curbing banking fraud and misuse. Among these measures is the provision for users to enable or disable card transactions for both domestic and international payments. The RBI’s guidelines also mandate that banks keep ATMs and point of sale (PoS) transactions enabled by default, while disabling all forms of online transactions for debit and credit cards that have never been utilized for digital payments within both domestic and international contexts. According to the RBI circular, these directions are issued under Section 10(2) of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007 (Act 51 of 2007) and shall come into effect from March 16, 2020.

For credit cards issued by SBI (State Bank of India):

SBI Card app: Begin by logging in to the SBI Card app. From there, navigate to the ‘Manage Card Usage’ section and select ‘Manage Card Transactions’. You will then be able to choose the desired transaction type that you wish to modify.

SBI Card website: Access your SBI Card account by logging in to the SBI Card website. Within the main menu, locate and select the ‘Manage Card Usage’ option. Next, click on ‘Manage Card Transactions’ and proceed to select the specific transaction type that you intend to modify.

In addition to managing transactions, you can also set the usage type and enable or disable contactless payment within these platforms.
