Infosys employee? Doing WFH? Your company is planning big rejig on work from home policy? CEO Salil Parekh says this

Infosys, the second-largest company in India, has not yet made it mandatory for its employees to work from the office. However, it appears that the company might have to reconsider its hybrid working policy for certain employees. During the company’s 42nd annual general meeting (AGM), a senior company official revealed that while Infosys currently offers flexible options for employees to work from home or the office, some clients have started demanding that their projects be handled from the office.

The AGM, which was held virtually, featured addresses from the company’s executive chairman, Nandan Nilekani, as well. In response to a shareholder’s question, Infosys Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Salil Parekh, mentioned that in the future, there will be a greater need for social capital, where people must connect with each other to undertake new initiatives and receive training.

Gadgets Now in its report quoted Parekh saying, “We have a flexible approach for employees. We are making sure that the employees have the ability to work from home or work hybrid. In some cases where clients are requiring it. We have employees and teams that are working within the campus. On a long term basis, we see a mix of where people will work, where there will be a need for increased social capital to connect with people to work with teams to do a new work.”

Nilanjan Roy, the chief financial officer of Infosys, echoed Parekh’s sentiments, stating, “We encourage people to come to work for a few days, and we believe that this strengthens our social capital. The extent of this depends largely on our clients’ requirements, and if clients insist, then employees are required to come to the office.” At present, Infosys has approximately 340,000 employees.
