Maruti Suzuki reports 2 per cent increase in total wholesales in June

Maruti Suzuki India reported a 2% increase in total wholesales at 159,418 units in June. Domestic passenger vehicle sales rose 8% to 133,027 units.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Saturday reported 2 per cent increase in total wholesales at 1,59,418 units in June, 2023. The country’s largest carmaker had dispatched 1,55,857 units to dealers in June 2022, MSI said in a statement.

The company’s domestic passenger vehicle sales increased by 8 per cent to 1,33,027 units in May 2023 as against 1,22,685 units in the year-ago period. As announced by the company, sales of mini cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, fell marginally to 14,054 units as compared with 14,442 units in the same month last year.

Sales in the compact segment that include models such as Maruti Suzuki Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, slumped 17 per cent to 64,471 units in June 2023 as against 77,746 cars in June last year.

Similarly, sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz increased to 1,744 units as compared with 1,507 units in June last year.

The company’s utility vehicle sales, including Brezza, Grand Vitara and Ertiga, jumped over two-fold to 43,404 units in June this year. The figure was 18,860 vehicles in the year-ago month, MSI said.

Exports declined 17 per cent to 19,770 units as against 23,833 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said.

Meanwhile, the company is gearing up to launch Maruti Suzuki Invicto – its upcoming premium three-row utility vehicle on July 5. The company has started accepting bookings of the MPV. It can be booked with a payment of ₹25,000 from the company’s premium retail outlet NEXA showrooms or through online, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a regulatory filing.

The Invicto will mark the company’s entry into the premium three-row segment, as it looks to gain a foothold in the above ₹20 lakh segment with the new model after having attained leadership in the ₹15-20 lakh vehicle segment last fiscal.
