Agartala: Amid an alarming rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, several states have stepped up vigil and also introduced certain measures to contain the spread of the viral disease. The Centre recently advised states to ramp up testing and identify emergency hotspots among other measures in view of a sharp surge in coronavirus cases.

In an attempt to check the spread of infection, Tripura has made COVID tests mandatory for people arriving from states that have reported a high positivity rate.
People visiting Tripura from Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu will have to undergo a mandatory COVID test, a senior health official said on Wednesday, PTI reported.

“All domestic incoming passengers from the states with high COVID-positivity rate shall have to be mandatorily tested on their arrival at the airport, railway stations and the Churaibari check gate,” the official said.
