Stree is coming back! On April 12 at the Jio Studios’ Infinite Together event, Dinesh, along with Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee, took the stage to announce that Stree 2 is coming on screens next year. Stree was one of the super successful films of 2018. The horror-comedy was directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan. Almost five years down the line, the cast announced the release date of Stree 2 with a unique skit.

Stree 2 brings back the starcast of Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee. The film will hit theatres release on August 31, 2024. The same was announced at the Jio Studios’ Infinite Together event. The cast took the stage and enacted a skit to announce the 2024 release date.
The skit opens with the ghostly figure of Stree taking over the stage with a terrifying music background. ‘Oh Stree kal ana’ can be seen written in the background. Just then, the lights go off and Shraddha Kapoor enters the stage. She tells Rajkummar, Panjak Tripathi, Abhishek Kapur and Aparshakti Khurana, “Mere upar ek bhot badi aur khatarnaak museebat ane vali hai.” In the end, Pankaj announces the release date of Stree 2.

The plot of Stree is based on the urban legend Nale Ba (Come tomorrow) of Karnataka. It is based on the Indian folk legend about a witch who abducts men at night when they are alone and only leaves their clothes behind. The comedy horror film was directed by debutant Amar Kaushik in his directorial debut and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Raj & D.K.
