Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 Date Updates: The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the full schedule for the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023 and said the home voting facility will be provided to 80+ senior citizens. The Election Commission said in the Karnataka Assembly election, the state will have over 58,000 polling stations and there will be 28,866 urban polling stations among them. As per the data provided by the EC, over 12.15 Lakh voters are there aged 80+, 276 voters above 100+ age and the EC will have special outreach for them during the election.

The Election Commission said in the Karnataka Assembly election, the state will have over 58,000 polling stations and there will be 28,866 urban polling stations among them.

The Election Commission further added that more than 1,300 polling stations will be handled exclusively by women in the state. According to the EC, Karnataka has a total of 42,756 transgenders out of which, 41,000 have been registered. The EC further added that some have been hesitating in marking themselves under transgender but we appeal to them to come forward.

Giving details during the press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said the total electors in Karnataka are 5.2 crore and the total number of 80 plus year-old electors stands at 12.15 lakh.

This time, over 9.17 lakh first-time voters will participate in the elections. Under Advance Application Facility over 1.25 lakh applications were received from 17 years plus youths, out of which around 41,000 applications were received from youths turning 18 years by April 1, 2023.

The Model Code of Conduct in the state has come into force with the announcement of poll schedule.

CEC Rajiv Kumar said the urban apathy and misuse of money power are the two major issues in the state and appropriate initiatives are being taken in this regard. “We have directed all the enforcement authorities on this,” said the CEC.

He stated that the Election Commission (EC) is strengthening its teams to curb the misuse of money power and added that there will be 2,400 static surveillance teams to keep strict vigil and multiple agencies working in synergy and coordination.

To ensure free, fair and inducement-free elections, the awareness and cooperation of citizens are key. Citizens can report any kind of electoral malpractices to the ECI through cVIGIL App, the CEC added.
