NEW DELHI: Two additional trains have been inducted on Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line to accommodate more passengers during peak hours in view of the partial closure and diversions imposed on National Highway-48 near Gurgaon, officials said on Tuesday.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has increased the train trips by almost 33% from 478 to 637 per day on the Qutub Minar to HUDA City Centre section

With this, the total number of trains operated on this line has gone up from 57 to 59. “The frequency of trains on Qutub Minar to HUDA City Centre section has also improved from three minutes 27 seconds to two minutes 30 seconds during peak hours on weekdays. Delhi Metro is observing the flow of passengers and may review train frequency on other lines if required,” said DMRC principal executive director Anuj Dayal.

The trains, which earlier terminated at Qutub Minar metro Station, will continue to run up to the HUDA City Centre metro station. These additional arrangements will continue to be in place till further notice, said DMRC officials.

Additional passenger facilities, including eight automatic fare calculation gates, 12 ticket vending machines, three ticket operating machines, one automatic recharge card machine, one customer care centre, eight door metal detectors, and three baggage scanning machines have also been added at four stations of the line — HUDA City Centre, IFFCO Chowk, MG Road and Sikanderpur.
Recently, an additional gate number 3 was opened at HUDA City Centre metro Station. . This entry gate on the ground floor is connected through a 35 metres passage to the concourse of the station and is also equipped with a lift and two escalators.
