Google Working On 1000+ Language AI-Model To Take On Rival ChatGPT; Details

IN A blog post, Google, a California-based technology company, discussed the Universal Speech Module, which would be a crucial first step in the world of artificial intelligence. Google also stated that it is developing an AI model that supports more than 1,000 languages in order to compete with ChatGPT.

Google also said that it will be creating a language model that would support over 1,000 language models, including the most widely spoken language in the world, back in November, when the ChatGPT made its debut.

According to the tech giant, USM is a collection of cutting-edge speech models with 2 billion parameters trained on 12 million hours of speech and 28 billion words of text in more than 300 different languages.

“USM, which is intended for use in YouTube (e.g., for closed captioning), can perform automatic speech recognition (ASR) not only on widely spoken languages like English and Mandarin, but also on under-resourced languages like Amharic, Cebuano, Assamese, and Azerbaijani, to name a few,” Google wrote in a blog post.

According to Google, USM supports over 100 languages and will act as the “basis” for a much larger system.

In the meantime, Google is aiming to integrate the Imagen text-to-image generator into Gboard for Android in preparation for the impending introduction of a number of AI features for its products.

But, San Francisco-based technology startup Open AI has seen tremendous interest in its ChatGPT AI platform. In just a few months after its launch, the company saw a user base of 200 million, making it the fastest platform to grow at this rate.
