India’s largest public sector lender State Bank of India (SBI) offers different types of bank accounts that cater to different types of people – whether salaried or self-employed. A savings account in the public lender can be opened by any individual provided he/she has valid KYC documents. This type of account is primarily meant for poorer sections of society to encourage them to start saving without any burden of charges or fees.
With everything going digital, SBI also started its online banking facility, commonly known as OnlineSBI. It is the Internet banking service provided by the country’s largest and premier commercial bank. An eligible person, who doesn’t have an account with SBI, can also open one using OnlineSBI.
All they have to do is is apply online for opening. A link ‘Online SB Account Application’ is available on the home page of www.onlinesbi.sbi or they can walk in to any of SBI’s branches nearby.
Once a user opens a bank account, they are given a system generated user name and password. The bank sends the required documents along with the user name and password through the courier as well. Users, on their first visit to OnlineSBI, are mandatorily required to change their user name and password.
