At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures slated to expire on April 5 edged lower by Rs 171 to Rs 55,416 per 10 grams (24-carat) on Saturday.
Likewise, the silver price also came down by Rs 600 on MCX, quoting Rs 70,900 per kg on Saturday.
Internationally, gold prices dropped to their lowest in eight weeks on Friday amid stronger dollar and bond yields as the market braced for more interest rate hikes by the US Fed in the coming months. Spot gold fell 0.6 percent to $1,810.89 per ounce, having touched its lowest since December 30, at $1,808.7. US gold futures slipped 0.5 percent to settle at $1,817.70.
