Shabari Jayanti 2023: Date, time, puja vidhi and significance

Shabari is the name of one of Lord Ram’s most prominent disciples. Her birthday is commemorated as Shabari Jayanti every year. Mata Shabari is worshipped alongside Lord Ram on this day. Shabri is said to have gained Lord Rama’s blessings because of her undying devotion to him.

Shabari Jayanti takes place on Krishna Paksha Saptami in the month of Phalguna, according to the North Indian lunar calendar. It commemorates the Magha lunar month according to the Amanta lunar calendar, which is used in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Southern Indian states. Surprisingly, Shabari Jayanti falls on the same day in both calendars.

Lord Rama, one of the most popular Hindu deities, is said to be the seventh incarnation of God Vishnu. During the Treta Yuga, Lord Rama was born to Kaushalya and Dasharatha, the ruler of Ayodhya. According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Rama’s birth anniversary is observed as Rama Navami, which comes during Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month.

SHABARI JAYANTI2023: PUJA VIDHI

On this day, followers observe a number of rituals and traditions.

Devotees wake up before sunrise, bathe, do Sankalp, and worship Lord Rama; some even fast for the entire day.

Some people even go to temples to pray.

On this auspicious day, devotees offer prayers in honour of Lord Rama and Lakshman.
