New Delhi: Gold prices on Monday touched fresh lifetime high tracking steady global rates. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold futures, maturing on February 3, rose 0.35 per cent to hit a high of Rs 57,149 per 10 gram, and breached past the previous high of Rs 57,125 in early trade.
Likewise, silver futures also traded in the green, jumping over 300 points or 0.53 per cent to above Rs 68,600 per kg. The yellow metal rose by Rs 400 to Rs 57,590 per 10 grams on Sunday. Prices of the precious metal are likely to go higher amid its safe heaven appeal among investors amid volatile equity market conditions, experts said. Investors are also eyeing the US Fed meeting and Union Budget, which will also play a key role in impacting commodity market sentiment.

Gold, silver in international markets
Gold prices inched higher on Monday as the US dollar eased, while market participants globally awaited a slew of central bank meetings with the main focus on the Federal Reserve. Spot gold rose 0.3 per cent to $1,932.84 per ounce, as of 0457 GMT. US gold futures were up 0.2 per cent at $1,932.80. Spot silver gained 0.6 per cent to $23.70 per ounce.
