Citroen eC3 EV hatch unveiled in India with 320 km range

Citroen has unveiled the Citroen eC3 electric hatch. This is the electric version of the C3 hatchback that was launched in 2022 and is the second mainstream EV hatch to be launched in India after the Tata Tiago EV.

The Citroen eC3 uses a 29.2 kWh lithium ferrous phosphate battery that is good for a 320 km ARAI range figure. This battery is naturally air-cooled but is protected for nail penetration. It can also withstand a wide range of operating temperatures ranging from -10 to 55 degree Celsius. The eC3 can DC fast charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 57 minutes, AC charge at 3.3 kWh and charge from a 15A home socket in 10.5 hours.

The Citroen eC3 is powered by a 57PS and 143 Nm electric motor that gets it from 0 to 60 kmph in 6.8s and onto a 107 kmph top speed. The eC3 loses 10mm of ground clearance to 170 kmph although the wheelbase and other dimensions remain unchanged.

Citroen eC3 EV exterior, interior changes

On the outside, you get three new exterior dual-tone colour options as well as blue e-badges to separate this from the standard Citroen C3. There is a charge port on the front fender. On the inside, the toggle-type gear shifter is the only real difference, although you now get Eco and normal drive modes. There is also phone-based connected tech features to go with the 10-inch touchscreen.

Bookings for the Citroen eC3 begin on January 22, 2023 with deliveries in February. The eC3 comes with a 7-year/1.4 lakh km battery warranty, a 5-year/1 lakh electric motor warranty and a 3-year/1.25 lakh km vehicle warranty.  We expected the Citroen eC3 to be priced at around Rs 10 to 12 lakh.
