Permanent remote working ends for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employees as the IT giants ask everyone to return to office desks. TCS employees who were enjoying a 100 per cent work-from-home will have to come back to the office according to the need of their role.
Last year in an official mail to employees, TCS informed its employees to come back to offices three days a week or according to the roster set by their team supervisor. “Senior leaders of TCS have been working from TCS offices for a while now and our customers are also visiting TCS offices Your respective managers will now roster you to work from the TCS office for at least 3 days in a week,” reads the official mail.

However, now in a recent interview with Financial Express, the Indian tech giant confirmed to officially rule out 100 per cent remote work for everyone.
“There is a greater realisation that by coming to offices, more things get done, especially for people who have joined us in the last two years. When they come and see the offices, they see a different perspective of TCS, they see a different perspective of their own position vis-a-vis their peers,” said N. Ganapathy Subramaniam, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TCS.
TCS is ending the permanent work-from-home considering the general interest among employees who want to return to their desks for work. However, looking at the rising scenario of Covid cases around the globe, the company will continue taking precautionary measures and will not make work from office mandatory. ” “We are giving flexibility to our employees. But our thinking is that we need to evolve this hybrid model of work, making sure that people do come to office, people do experience it. 100% working from home is kind of ruled out. We expect them to come to office more often and as often as required to experience offices and for their own benefit of learning and sharing,” Subramaniam said.” Subramaniam further adds.

Earlier, in May 2020 during the first wave of Covid-19, TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan introduced the 25×25 model. Under this, the company set the plan to call back 25 per cent of its workforce back to the office by 2025. Work from office is also being considered for employees who joined TCS after 2020 and never visited the official physically. “This will also be an opportunity to welcome a significant number of our new colleagues, who have joined us over the last two years, most of whom have not yet been in a TCS office,” reads the official mail sent to employees last year.
