He explained that pomegranate peels are bitter and astringent in taste and can be used to cure a variety of illnesses. “It aids in reducing swelling, inflammations, diarrhea, dysentery, bleeding, improves digestion and tones the liver. It is teeming with antioxidants and works well as a food and pharmaceutical preservative,” says Dr John. He also said that pomegranate peels are actually more healthier than its seeds because of the high antioxidant content.

“Pomegranate peel is used in a powdered form with water as a gargle to alleviate sore throats and coughs, according to traditional medical practices,” says Dr John.
