The Odisha Government on Friday announced a 4% hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for the State government employees and pensioners ahead of the new year.

According to a notification issued by the Government on Friday, the State Government has increased the Dearness Allowance by 4 per cent. The hike in DA and TI for the government employees and pensioners was approved by Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik.
The hike in DA will be effective retrospectively from 1 July, 2022.
Notably, the Government in September this year had announced a hike in dearness allowance (DA) in favour of State Government Employees under the Revised Scales of Pay Rules (OSRP), 2017.

The officials said the decision to hike the dearness allowance by three per cent to 34 per cent from the existing 31 per cent was initiated, considering the overall financial resources and fiscal target stipulated under Odisha Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, 2005.
Over 7.5 lakh government and pensioners would benefit from the decision.
