An Agra man strangled his wife to death and then reached the police station to confess his crime. His claim was verified by a police team and he was arrested.
By Siraj Qureshi: Fed up with daily fights with his wife, an Agra man killed her and then reached the police station to confess his crime.
According to the Sikandra police station in-charge, Anand Kumar Shahi, “The accused, Uday Singh, a resident of Atoos village, came to the police station on Wednesday morning and informed the duty officer that he had murdered his wife Jyoti at Shekhar Enclave in Paschim Puri area of Agra and asked to be arrested.”
Uday Singh’s claim was verified by a police team and based on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Nikhil, a case was filed against Uday and he was arrested.
As per the information, Uday owns a security agency where Jyoti went to work in 2018. Jyoti was a divorcee and while working at the security agency, fell in love with Uday. In 2019, the two got married in a court and started living in Shekhar Enclave. After the marriage, Jyoti learned that Shekhar was already married and since then, the two started fighting. Two years back, Jyoti gave birth to a son.
On Wednesday too, Jyoti and Uday had a fight and in a rage, Uday strangled her to death. Upon reaching the police station, Uday said that he had been asking Jyoti to move with him to his old home in Atoos but Jyoti was not ready to move and that was the reason for the regular fights that ultimately resulted in him killing Jyoti.
Jyoti’s father, Baburam, was a police department employee and after his death, Jyoti’s mother got a job with the police. Now Jyoti’s brother Nikhil and mother Sona are all that are left in the family.
Talking to India Today, Nikhil said that Uday Singh had deceived Jyoti into marrying him and she was subjected to domestic abuse ever since they got married. “Whenever Jyoti went to the police, Uday used to apologize and patch up, but the abuse never stopped,” Nikhil added.
