Gone are the days when EPFO subscribers would wait for their employers to share provident fund statements. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the retirement fund body under the Government of India, has made it easier for members to access their provident fund details. EPF subscribers can now check their provident fund balance online anytime. There are four modes available to them to check their PF balance in minutes.

How to check PF balance: SMS Method
If a subscriber’s UAN is registered with the EPFO, the member can get the details of his latest contribution and PF balance by sending an SMS to 7738299899. The member needs to send this message: EPFOHO UAN ENG. ‘ENG’ is the first three characters of the preferred language. So, if someone let’s say wants to receive the message in Marathi, then he needs to type in EPFOHO UAN MAR.
The facility is available in 10 languages – English (default), Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali. The SMS must be sent from the registered mobile number of UAN.
PF balance: Missed Call
An EPFO subscriber can check the PF balance by using EPFO missed call facility. The subscriber needs to give a missed call on 011-22901406 from UAN registered mobile number. EPFO will immediately send PF details to the registered mobile number.
Umang app
Open the Umang (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app and click on EPFO. The subscriber will be directed to a page that shows employee-centric services. The member needs to click on ’employee-centric services’, which will direct the user to the page. Then, he needs to click on ‘view passbook’ and enter the UAN and one-time password (OTP), which the user will receive on the registered mobile number. After this, the member will be able to check the EPF balance.

EPFO portal
Subscribers are also allowed to check their PF account balance through EPFO’s official website.
• Login at EPFO portal — epfindia.gov.in/site_en/index.php;
• Go to ‘Our Services’, scrawl and click on ‘For Employees’;
• Go to ‘Member Passbook’ under ‘Services’;
• You will be redirected to new web page — pass-book.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp;
Remember that an EPFO member can access one’s EPF passbook if its UAN is being activated by its employer.
Check EPF balance without UAN number:
1. Log into EPF home page of epfindia.gov.in
2. Click on ‘Click Here to Know your EPF Balance’
3. You will be redirected to epfoservices.in/epfo/. Go to “Member Balance In-formation”
4. Select state and click at EPFO office link
5. Enter PF account number, name and registered mobile number
6. Click on ‘Submit’ and PF balance will be displayed.
