UIDAI, the government agency that issues Aadhaar cards to all citizens of India, has issued an important notice for all Aadhaar holders. It has been seen that most people haven’t cared to keep their Aadhar card in good condition. They often twist it resulting in it getting torn and also many people tampering with their Aadhar cards in several ways.
But so far it has not made any difference to the Aadhar card holders because all that they need is the 12-digit digit Aadhar number to get their work done. But that won’t be the case anymore. Therefore, UIDAI has appealed to all the card holders to take care of their Aadhar cards and not tamper with it in any way.

UIDAI has given out instructions to all card holders that before using Aadhaar card as a proof of identity, it is necessary to check its veracity or authenticity. In such a situation, to check the veracity of the Aadhaar card, the QR code printed on it has to be scanned. If your Aadhaar card has been damaged due to whatever reason, then it will be very difficult to check its veracity with the help of the QR code.
In such a situation, there are chances that the scanner won’t be able to scan the QR code of your Aadhaar card. This will create problems for you in various ways. This is the reason that now it has become very important to take good care of Aadhaar card. UIDAI has requested all the card holders to not twist their cards to prevent it from getting damaged.

How to take care of your Aadhar card
- Get the Aadhaar card laminated and keep it in a safe place.
- Don’t fold your Aadhar card.
- Keep your Aadhaar card out of the reach of small children, children can damage your Aadhaar card.
- Keep your Aadhar card out of the reach of children as they can damage it.
