Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has extended the deadline for paying bills by two days for those whose last date falls between November 24 and November 30. This step was taken because several consumers haven’t been able to pay their bills due to issues over linking their Aadhar with their electricity service numbers.
A circular to all circle superintendent engineers said that many consumers were not able to pay their electricity bills, both online and offline, as the collection option is available only after obtaining the Aadhaar number and its validation.

The circular said, “Hence, the extension of time for payment of LT CC (current consumption) charges for those consumers whose due data falls between November 24 and 30 shall be provided for two days from the respective due date so as to avoid inconvenience to the consumer while linking Aadhaar on the last day for payment of CC charges. This extension of time shall be allowed to those categories of consumers who are required to link Aadhaar.”

Here’s how to link TNEB and Aadhar online on https://nsc.tnebltd.gov.in
- Visit the site https://nsc.tnebltd.gov.in/adharupload/
- You will get a form where you’ll have to enter your Service Connection Number.
- Confirm your mobile number by generating OTP. Enter the OTP and verify your account.
- Fill in the occupant’s details
- Enter the Aadhar card number that you want to link with your TANGEDCO account.
- Enter your name as it is mentioned on your Aadhar.
- Upload your Aadhar ID.
- Finally, submit the form and make sure to download the receipt.
