Jio 5G is rolling out to every corner of the country slowly. Currently, Reliance Jio has launched its 5G services in 12 major cities and plans to make Jio 5G available in all parts of the country by the end of next year. So, while many Jio users must have already received 5G on their phone, others will need to wait for the official rollout in their cities. Meanwhile, there are also people living in one of the 12 cities but still not able to use Jio 5G on their phone. What could be the reason?

Firstly, the 12 cities that have already received Jio 5G include — Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Varanasi, Kolkata, Pune, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Bengaluru, and Faridabad. So, if you live in one of the 12 cities, have a 5G phone and your phone maker has pushed the latest software update, then you should be able to use Jio 5G on your phone. Now, people who have 5G available in their city but are still unable to use it should start by updating the settings of the phone.
Here’s how to activate 5G on your phone
Step 1: Go to the settings tab
Step 2: Scroll down to Connections or Mobile Network option
Step 3: Select the 5G network mode.
So, if 5G is available in your area, you will be able to use 5G on your phone by changing the settings.
Now, if you have the 5G setting turned on and yet unable to use Jio 5G on your phone, then it could be possible that your OEM hasn’t pushed the necessary software update yet. Once you get the update on your 5G phone, the Jio 5G will start working on your phone.
A 5G phone is mandatory to use a 5G service. So, if you are stuck on an old 4G phone, it is better to upgrade so you will be able to use high speed internet. Now, none of the 5G iPhone models in India will be able to use 5G right now. Apple recently pushed a software update for iOS beta that allows users to use 5G on their phone. The update is yet to be released in stable build. The company hasn’t revealed when the 5G related iOS update will be available for all eligible iPhone users.

Currently, Reliance Jio isn’t charging for Jio 5G. The company recently clarified that to use Jio 5G, users should subscribe to plans priced over Rs 239. While the company is offering 5G service free of cost, in a couple of months we can expect Jio to announce new 5G plans, which are said to be slightly pricer than the 4G plans.
